Why Aloe Vera Is a Game-Changer for Skin and Hair

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lye Water: In a well-ventilated area, slowly add lye to distilled water (never water to lye, as this can cause a dangerous reaction). Stir until dissolved and let cool to around 100–110°F (38–43°C).
  2. Mix Oils: In a pot, gently heat coconut oil and olive oil until melted. Let cool to a similar temperature as the lye water.
  3. Blend with Aloe Vera Gel: Once the oils and lye water are at similar temperatures, pour the lye water into the oils. Add the aloe vera gel and blend with a stick blender until the mixture reaches a creamy consistency, known as “trace.”
  4. Add Essential Oils (Optional): Stir in essential oils for a soothing fragrance, blending briefly to combine.
  5. Pour Into Molds: Transfer the mixture into silicone soap molds. Cover and let harden for 24–48 hours in a cool, dry place.
  6. Cure the Soap: Remove the soap from molds and place on a drying rack. Allow it to cure for 4–6 weeks to ensure a gentle, long-lasting bar.
