1️⃣ Activate the yeast
- In a bowl, mix:
- Warm milk
- Yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Let it rest for 10 minutes until foamy.
2️⃣ Prepare the dough
- In a large bowl, combine:
- Flour
- Remaining sugar
- Salt
- Poppy seeds
- Add eggs and yeast mixture.
- Knead until combined.
- Add the soft butter gradually and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
3️⃣ Shape the dough
- Divide dough into 4 equal pieces.
- Shape into smooth balls.
- Place each ball into greased mini pots or ramekins (like your photo).
- Let rise again for 30–40 minutes until puffy.
4️⃣ Add oil on top
Just like in your image — drizzle a little oil over the risen dough.
5️⃣ Bake
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Brush tops with egg yolk + milk mixture for a shiny finish.
- Bake for 18–25 minutes, until golden brown.
6️⃣ Serve
Let them cool slightly, then enjoy warm.
Soft inside, shiny crust, perfect with butter, jam, or cheese.
