If you’re looking for an effective, natural, and affordable way to tighten pores, reduce acne, and brighten your skin, look no further. This homemade toner made from rice water and cloves is a powerful, centuries-old remedy inspired by traditional Asian and Ayurvedic skincare. It’s easy to make, gentle on the skin, and loaded with skin-repairing nutrients.

Let’s dive into the recipe and see how this toner can transform your skincare routine.

Ingredients Required

You’ll need just a few kitchen staples to make this glow-boosting toner:

  • 2 tablespoons rice (white or brown)

  • 6–8 whole cloves

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 green tea bag or 1 tsp green tea leaves (optional – for added antioxidants)

  • 2 drops tea tree oil or rosemary essential oil (optional – for acne-prone skin)

  • 1 teaspoon rose water (optional – for a refreshing scent and hydration)

Procedure

  1. Rinse the rice thoroughly to remove any dirt.
  2. Add it to 1 cup of clean water and let it soak for 30–45 minutes. Stir occasionally to help the nutrients release into the water.
  3. After soaking, add the cloves directly to the rice water.
  4. Boil (optional but more potent): Pour the rice water and cloves into a saucepan. Bring to a light boil and simmer for 5–7 minutes. This will infuse the clove’s antibacterial properties deeply.
  5. If using green tea, add it after turning off the heat and let it steep for 5 minutes.
  6. Strain the mixture using a fine sieve or muslin cloth. Let it cool completely.
  7. Once cool, stir in essential oil and rose water if using.
  8. Pour the toner into a clean spray bottle and store it in the refrigerator.
