A mild (~3%) hydrogen peroxide solution can help loosen earwax and clean debris. You apply drops, allow it to fizz, then let it drain out. Use with care: do not use if the eardrum is suspected to be ruptured.
Other Supportive Measures
Stay well‑hydrated, get plenty of rest.
Use a humidifier or inhale steam to relieve congestion, if the infection is associated with sinus congestion.
Sleep with your head elevated to help fluid drain more easily.
Cautions & When to See a Doctor
Never put anything into the ear if you suspect the eardrum is ruptured (symptoms like discharge, hearing loss, severe pain, bleeding).
Be careful with temperature: oils or compresses that are too hot can burn.
Allergic reactions: test a small skin patch before using essential oils.
If symptoms worsen, there’s fever, swelling, or no improvement in a couple of days, medical treatment may be needed (antibiotics, etc.).
